The Sri Maju Group of Companies – operator of Sri Maju Express buses – recently joined the foray of many express bus and tourist coach operators in Malaysia and Singapore; they recently added their first Scania Double-Decker buses to their fleet.

The first 2 units of these buses – painted in special dark-blue livery and featuring the company’s icon, the Hibiscus flower – was recently launched at the Sri Maju head office along Jalan Bendaraha in Ipoh.

The launch was officiated by Dato’ Yeoh Kian Teik, Chairman of Sri Maju Group of Companies; Tn Haji Mad Yasir bin Mastakim, Director of Perak State Jabatan Pengangkutan Jalan (JPJ – Land Transport Authority) and En. Idros Puteh, General Manager of Scania (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd

Before the official unveiling of the bus, Dato’ Yeoh noted, “These are most technologically advanced buses on the road in Malaysia today, and the introduction of these buses are part of Sri Maju’s quest to provide the very best in terms of comfort and safety for our passengers.”

The new buses will ply the Ipoh – Singapore and Kuala Lumpur – Haadyai routes.

En Idros Puteh added, “Sri Maju has had a long partnership with Scania, and I’m sure these new buses will be a great addition to the Sri Maju fleet, which already has a large number of Scania buses.  The levels of comfort, reliability and quietness of these Scania buses are legendary, and I’m sure this will be much appreciated by Sri Maju’s passengers.”

The buses are Scania K 420 EB 6x2, featuring a powerful Euro 3 compliant 420 horsepower engine.  Safety is a priority with Traction Control, Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), Scania Retarder and disc brakes.  Scania Opticruise – the automated gearchanging system – is also specified in the Sri Maju buses.  The body is built by Gemilang Coachworks Sdn Bhd.
