The service was recently launched by Malaysian Tourism Minister, Datuk Seri Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor.   “The KL Hop-On Hop-Off bus service will not only improve the quality and convenience of KL's public transportation, but is also an additional tourist attraction that will definitely give tourists a whole new experience,” he said.

Mr Vikneswaran Subramaniam, bus sales manager for Scania (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd was ecstatic about Scania being selected as the chassis supplier for this prestigious project, “This is a high visibility bus, with routes running all around the city’s main tourist spots.   The operator needs a highly reliable, top quality bus and this is where Scania came in tops.”

Four buses will be operating from early January, and a total of 10 buses will be operational by June 2007.

With 2007 being Visit Malaysia Year, the timing couldn’t be better for this service.   The buses stop at 42 major tourist sites in and around Kuala Lumpur city at 30 minute intervals.

Passengers can stay on for the full circuit, or hop on or off at any of the stops.   A complimentary set of earphones is provided, and passengers can opt to listen to the commentary on-board the bus in 8 different languages.
