Minimizing impact throughout the vehicle lifecycle - and after

When it comes to the environment, Scania looks at the entire vehicle - from the day it leaves the factury to the eventual recovery of its component parts many years later.  This perspective helps us create the best combination of operating economy and environmental performance over a lifetime of use.

On the power and emissions front, Scania is at the forefront in using new technology and improving existing methods to make the diesel engine even more efficient while simultaneously reducing emissions, giving drivers and operators improved torque and driveability while reducing fuel consumption.

For Malaysia, Scania has taken the initiative to specify all our buses with low-emission Euro 3 engines; in 310 hp, 380 hp and 420 hp specifications.  These engines further exceeds Malaysian emissions regulations requirements, and combines low noise levels that guarantees comfort for the driver and passengers alike. The difference between Euro 1, the current Malaysian emission regulation, and Euro 3 corresponds to 72% reduction of particles and 38% reduction of nitrogen oxides.

Of course, every vehicle will ultimately be recycled one day, and Scania provides material labeling and disassembly guidelines to enable safer and more sustainable processing.  That's one of the reasons we have engineered our buses to be built with up to 90 percent recoverable materials.

At Scania, the peace of mind we offer our customers extend beyond the lifetime of our vehicles.
